Cowichan Tribes – Opioid Crisis Response (2020 – 2025)

Working closely with Ts’ewulhtun Health Centre managers, I served as project manager and lead analyst to support Cowichan Tribes’ response to the crisis of toxic drug deaths and addiction.

• Engagement, research, and data analysis: I co-led community engagement planning, supported development of an online survey, and analyzed and reported on data and feedback gathered.
• Facilitation of strategy development and implementation: I facilitated meetings with managers and staff, community members, and partners to develop and implement strategies to address the crisis.  
• Program planning and implementation: Working closely with managers and frontline staff, I facilitated the collaborative development and implementation of program plans and new services.
• Trauma-informed, culturally-safe engagement with at-risk populations: I facilitated collaboration with frontline staff to engage with community members struggling with opioid use disorder in a safe way.
• Writing and reporting: I was lead analyst, writer and editor of the Interim Report and Recommendations, the Community Survey Report, Summary of Interviews with People Who Use Substances, and the Final Report and Recommendations. I also prepared briefing notes and situation reports for Chief and Council.
• Results: The initiative has improved services and contributed to an increase in the rate of community members seeking help for addiction and a decrease in the rate of fatal overdoses.

Capital Regional District – Indigenous Employment Project (2022-2023)

I served as a subcontractor with a small team from Arrive Consulting to lead the Capital Regional District’s (CRD) Indigenous Employment Project.

• Project planning and coordination: I supported all phases of project planning and delivery.
• Engagement planning and coordination: I co-led engagement with First Nations, CRD leaders, and staff.
• Interviews: I interviewed First Nations leaders, CRD executives, union reps, and subject matter experts.
• Qualitative data analysis and reporting: I analysed and reported on interview data.
• Research: I led an environmental scan of wise practices in Indigenous employment.
• Report writing: I co-wrote and edited the Final Report and a standalone Wise Practices Report.

Island Health – Aboriginal Health Strategic Plan (2016-2017)

I served as a subcontractor with a team from Roundtable Consulting to lead development of Island Health’s Aboriginal Health Strategic Plan 2017-2021.

• Community and organizational engagement: I facilitated community meetings with First Nations leaders, community members, and Island Health executives. I interviewed Island Health executives.
• Strategic planning and facilitation: I co-facilitated strategic planning workshops with Island Health executives and staff, Indigenous leaders, and external partners.
• Analysis, reporting, and writing: I analysed and reported on all engagement data collected. Ico-wrote and edited the draft plan and final plan.
